Mechanical recycling of post‑consumer rigid and flexible plastics presents unique challenges: high levels of paper labels, adhesives, metals, and degraded polymer. Without effective filtration, these contaminants drive frequent screen changes, unstable melt pressure, and inconsistent pellet quality.
With the assistance of upstream pre‑filtration, FLUX large‑area LAF filters are built to handle these extreme contamination loads without rapid blinding. Installed on recycling extruders processing rPET, rPP, or rPE, the system captures solid impurities while maintaining a wide effective filtration surface. This allows recyclers to maximize throughput and still produce high‑purity pellets with more stable pressure behavior.
Compared with conventional screen‑changer systems, the FLUX large‑area concept offers higher dirt‑holding capacity and smoother pressure profiles, even when input quality varies from batch to batch. Typical setups combine 25–100 µm melt filtration with one or more pre‑filtration stages to balance contaminant removal, line speed, and acceptable service intervals.
